PEER SUPPORT at Headway
Meeting Dates and Time: 1st and 3rd Tuesday of the month. 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM
Peer Support Group is for those
individuals who have sustained a mild to moderate brain injury and are
having difficulty accepting the losses accompanying such a life
changing event. This group provides a place to find mutual support and
encouragement for survivors. By sharing similar experiece, group
members overcome isolation, exchange information and resources. The
peer support group provides an environment to release the many
different emotions brought up as a result of a brain injury. It is
confidential, supportive, and nonjudgmental. The group will promote
acceptance and healing, and help the survivor get on with their life.

The Youth Support Group is for
individuals who have suffered a brain injury and are approximately 16
to 26 years of age. The group focuses on helping youth survivors
recover and grow, assist with feelings, help them with going back to
work or school, and gain confidence in oneself again.
CAREGIVERS SUPPORT GROUP
Meeting Dates and Time: 1st Tuesday of the month. 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM
Caregivers Support Group is for individuals and families who provide support and care giving to someone who has a brain injury. Memebers will participate in shares discussion about the demands of care giving and exchange information on practical resources that will help them cope. This group will provide healthy problem solving techniques, ideas for living with the challenges of care giving and find strenghts. The many emotions and feelings that arise from such giving will be explored within the group.
LIFE SUPPORT GROUP
Meeting Dates and Time: 1st Tuesday of the month. 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM
Life Support Group focuses on survivors who have depression/anxiety as a result of a brain injury. The goal of the group is to provide individuals with trusting, supportive, safe, and open environment in which they can share experiences. They will receive and learn from one another, acceptance, support, coping strategies, hope, positive role-modeling, and socialization.

Headway along with Operation Enduring Freedom/Operation Iraqi freedom Care Management team are working together to provide support to individuals and thier family/Caregivers. This group is to bring an awareness of who and what can help the individual or Caregiver. Leting you known you are not alone. A chance to meet others who are facing the same challenges as you as an individual or Caregiver.
SUPPORT GROUP FOR CHRONIC REGIONAL PAIN SYNDROME OR REFLEX SYMPATHETIC DYSTROPHY
Meeting Dates and Time: 4th Monday of every month. 7:00 PM @ St Paul's Lutheran Church, 4007 Main St. East in Eggertsville.
This is a disease that affects the sympathetic nerves. It happens when the body recieves a trauma of some kind. Your body heals, but the brain forgets to tell the nerves that the pain recieved from an injury has healed and stopped.
There are many symptoms and it is importatnt to find a doctor who specializes in CRPS/RSD

Closings
Support Groups are closed when the Buffalo Public Schools are closed, when a Federal holiday is on a Monday and during severe weather conditions. Also closing information will be available on News Channels 2 and 4.
* Free parking is available in the rear of the building. The parking lot can be accessed from West Utica Street. Enter 976 Delaware Avenue via the wheelchair ramp at the rear door of the building. Headway is one floor down, accessible by stairs or elevator.
